PeapodDonate to The Edible Gardens

We are excited to prepare the soil and begin planting a very special garden: The Edible Gardens (TEG) located in @lincolnparkzoo Farm-in-the-Zoo. TEG was started in 2005 by our founder Jeanne Nolan as an educational garden and part of @greencitymarkets outreach mission. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have planted TEG as a “donation garden” with all of the produce and flowers going directly to Lakeview Pantry and The Love Fridge to alleviate food insecurity facing our community. THANK YOU to everyone who made a donation in 2020 and 2021. We need your help again this year! There are still people suffering economic impacts of the pandemic and are still facing food insecurity.

Will you help us?

Your tax-deductible donation will literally plant the seeds of The Edible Garden. We aim to raise $40,000 to fully fund the garden, grow over 1,000 lbs of vegetables, fruit, and flowers, and donate ingredients for more than 2,000 nutrient-dense, organically-grown meals.

We will be growing: tomatoes, squash, eggplant, swiss chard, scallions, beets, collard greens, sweet and  hot peppers, cucumbers, beans, basil and a variety of pollinator friendly flowers. We utilize sustainable growing techniques and practices to maximize output.

We invite you to join us. Will you make a tax-deductible gift to Green City Market and support our shared commitment to feeding hungry neighbors today?
