Jeanne Pinsof Nolan

Jeanne Pinsof Nolan, founder of The Organic Gardner, Ltd., has been growing food for over 20 years. In 1987 she began an apprenticeship in organic vegetable gardening at a farm in the high desert of California. For the next 17 years she lived and worked on organic farms in southern California, near Austin, Texas, and in the mountains south of Asheville, North Carolina. During this period she completed her apprenticeship and went on to manage a 2-acre garden, teaching novice gardeners of all ages.

In 2004 she began her partnership with Green City Market, under whose auspices she designed, installed, and maintains The Edible Gardens, a 5,000-square-foot vegetable garden for children at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Her business, The Organic Gardener (TOG), has helped hundreds of families grow vegetables in their own backyards. Jeanne has also taught courses and given presentations on how to create and tend a backyard vegetable garden.
