Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center | Skokie, IL

In 2013, Westfield shoppers were surveyed about amenities they’d like to see implemented at Old Orchard Shopping Center, and a community garden showed overwhelming support. We collaborated with the Westfield team to create a garden and public program to engage shoppers in an edible gardening experience. This interactive garden is located near Cube Park and Macy’s where a variety of edible vegetables, fruit, flowers, and herbs fill the planters with inviting visual and textural dimension throughout the season.

Our Garden Educators are on-site regularly, Spring through Fall, maintaining the space, leading hands-on garden activities with children and answering how-to questions. Harvest from the garden is donated weekly to the Niles Food Pantry.

For summer 2019, we are also excited to participate in a series of food and drink themed events for adults. The gatherings revolve around themes of different beverages, food samples, celebrity chef appearances, live music and hands on activities. 100% of ticket sales benefit Fight2Feed.
